What Guests Are Saying
St. Mary Campground offers a great experience with informative ranger talks, clean facilities, and helpful hosts. Campsites are generally well-maintained, providing privacy and beautiful views, though some sites may require leveling. While some campers noted noise and mosquito issues, the overall ambiance, accessibility to activities, and friendly staff contribute to a positive camping experience.

We stayed in Loop A close to the river. Our site was shaded which was nice.

Site B58 is not great. St. Mary CG is very open, and this site includes views of the bathroom and a powerline dangling overhead. It's a weird site, with a shared driveway. The Recreation.gov description rambles on about the necessity to share the adjacent site with friends if you have an RV, otherwise it's a "tent only" site. We didn't realize this and pulled our RV into the site. The adjacent site was unoccupied when we went to bed, but the next morning a large motor-home was parked there. They apparently had no trouble backing into their site in the dark.
Like all the other GNP campgrounds we stayed in this week, there were MANY reserved sites that went unoccupied. That's very frustrating given the difficulty of reserving a site in GNP. There needs to be a bigger penalty for not canceling a reservation, and users shouldn't be charged a fee when they cancel.

Great spot. Easy access to the entire East side of Glacier. Loved the free shuttle service. Had bears in the campground, including a mom and cub. Campground has low trees, lots sun. We used the awning on our trailer for shade when it was hot.

Very comfortable campsite. Our site (A6) was right next to the bathrooms so at night it was a bit bright in our tent but super convenient when we needed to go. There was a wait for showers every time (only 4 showers for the whole campground, and only located in loop C) but that was our only complaint. We even had cell service! (ATT & Verizon)
