What Guests Are Saying
Tally Lake Campground is highly praised for its beautiful, secluded setting, spacious campsites, and friendly camp hosts who enhance the overall experience. Campers enjoy various activities such as swimming, kayaking, and hiking, with many expressing a desire to return. While there are some concerns about dust from gravel roads and occasional issues with water pressure, the campground is generally clean and well-maintained, making it a favorite among visitors.

Nice campground, lots of trees and beautiful lake and stream. Couple of nice trails close by. Camp hosts friendly and kept everything clean and tidy. Lots of mosquito's which I knew there would be from experience, but told later in year not as bad. No cell service which for me is a bonus. Why go camping and spend all of your time on your phone. Enjoy Nature!!! Good place to camp!

Always a pleasure to visit nature at Tally Lake campground. Nice to see that they are making improvements in the campground, including a new water system. Campos seem to be doing a great job. Campground is clean in the bathrooms are clean.

Excellent spot. Hiked and explored the trail right out from the camp spot all the way to the gate of another dirt road. You can see into this spot when you drive around the road loop, but many spots in this group camping area offer complete privacy. Camp host wanted to see my reservation, and I was able to barely bring it up online, as AT&T provided a bar of service. Verizon users complained of no service. You may want to take a screenshot or print out your reservation before arriving.

The camp hosts were not doing their job.
I have stayed at Tally many times and the previous hosts were very detailed, assuring the bathrooms were clean, the grounds maintained , the bees managed (traps hung ), the dock was out and would have been thoughtful enough to let campers know when they arrived if there was an issue with any core services. (the website mentioned construction, so I expected to hear heavy equipment off and on as they worked on the roads, but there was no warning about there being NO POTABLE WATER)
The current hosts:
1. Failed to refill the sanitizer in the bathroom at all during our 2 night stay which was empty on arrival, though they dropped off one toilet paper roll at a time a few times a day, I saw campers carrying their own TP into the bathroom closest to our campsite #4 several times.
2. Failed to let us know on arrival (when it would have been easy to leave and obtain water) that none of the water spigots throughout the camp were functioning resulting in NO POTABLE WATER our entire stay.
3. Failed to do any bee/yellow jacket maintenance, no traps were hung and the bees were so bad we could not stay on the beach and only had relief when out on the lake.
4. Failed to put out the dock and when asked about it seemed put out
So if we were camping without any services, what was the $24/night getting us? NOTHING.
I did contact recreation.gov re above and they submitted a request for a refund which has to be reviewed by the Facilities manager. I will be calling the Facilities manager re above. My husband and I were very disappointed in the camp hosts/issues above.

We go to Tally a couple times a year every year for the past 10 years. This year's camp host was the worst! Some of it may be because of the construction at all the sites but most of it was because he was way to persistent on getting his $5.00 from anyone who entered. There is doing you're job then there's doing it in a rude manner! He made up an excuse to why the swim docks, boat docks, and swimming rope weren't put in the water this year! I believe he was last years camp host to!!!!!! Bathrooms were horrible this year!!!! I hope he and his partner doesn't come back next year. Too the camp host family that worked Tally those three years prior.... we miss you! We see now the wonderful things you did to make the campground fun and comfortable. I will never forget the awesome fishing tips you gave me either. Thank you!!!

We were in the Pavilion group camp and after only 2 days into our 10 day reservation we were disrupted by construction. They were behind on construction and the guy from the construction came into our site and started swearing and verbally abusing our group that we needed to move trailers. We moved the trailer he needed and for the next 3 days it was big machinery digging trenches literally feet from our trailer. The trenches were left open at night which was a huge safety hazard especially with our children. Before the construction guy came into our site and started hollaring and swearing we were given no communication that there would be the construction right beside our trailers. This carried on for 3 days in our site.
Ruined our holiday.
Side note: we have photo/video of the whole ordeal including the verbal abuse by the construction guy.
