About Canyon Creek Cabin

Canyon Creek Cabin is located in the middle of an old mining district. Historic sites that can be explored on foot or on a bike are nearby. A variety of trails exist in the area, as does abundant wildlife. The cabin is a quaint location for guests to enjoy the scenic Pioneer Mountains in southwestern Montana. The cabin is accessible by a four-wheel drive or high clearance vehicle, depending on conditions. Snowmobiles, skis or snowshoes may be necessary during the months between December and April each year. Guests are responsible for their own travel arrangements and safety, and must bring several of their own amenities.

Canyon Creek Cabin is a charming and well-maintained retreat, offering cozy accommodations with plenty of firewood and supplies for a comfortable stay. The cabin was great as usual! Low snow on canyon creek road. Skied in 5.5 miles but you can drive to the kilns.

The previous cabin visitors haven't filled up the split wood rack on the cabin porch. There were a few pieces of wood in the cabin, but be prepared to split wood! There is a lot of wood available to split.

Bring TP, it's very low.

Cabin and outhouse are very clean!

Beautiful place. The stars at night are something else.
Mice are plentiful and quite frisky.
Bring an ax🪓 , hatchet🪓 and maybe a chainsaw as the firewood tools can be well used. Sometimes the firewood supply is sparse.
All in all a unique experience . Wish I was there right now!!

The locked gate is destroyed allowing access to the public and this has become a popular place for atv and side by side riders to use the facilities for their own use including illicit drugs, as their was a group at the site when we arrived for our stay. Until the FS fixes the gate expect groups of riders all day to be driving in, seeing it's occupied, then turning around. So if you have dogs or children please be cautious.

Another great visit. Firewood supply is getting very low, and if someone thinks about it, a new journal is about needed.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
