I did not camp at Holter Lake due to the awful weather. Anyway I tried calling the campground and get the go around. It would be nice if you had a line that you could call to cancel your reservation, for me it had nothing to due about the money but just being nice trying calling to let them know I wasn't coming.

Holter Lake Campground is such a beautiful place to stay! The camp hosts do an outstanding job keeping the bathrooms clean and well maintained — they are always spotless. They also make several trips throughout the campground checking on campers and making sure everything is taken care of. Their hard work and attention really show. We are lucky to have such a wonderful place to enjoy!

We camped in site #13 and loved this campground. First of all, the host was right there when we checked in. He was very friendly and welcoming! Several sites were open and he made a wonderful suggestion. The view of the lake is fabulous. The entire campground is pristine, clean and very attractive. The restrooms were very clean as well. We also appreciated the covered picnic table, fire pit and privacy from other campsites as the spaces are not all crowded together. So easy to access from the main highway with wide roads to navigate larger RVs. Thank you to the State of Montana for providing this site free of charge to visitors. We will definitely return again someday! Vicki from Idaho.

Area: BEAUTIFUL! GREAT lake views from the camp sites.
Park: VERY clean and well maintained
Camp Hosts: Friendly, professional and "ON TOP OF THINGS".
Security: Memorial Day weekend campers - warden and sheriff drove around the camp twice. Very friendly; nice they made their presence known.
Bathrooms: VERY clean!!!
Marina: very nice
Keep in mind this is a dry camp (no RV hook-ups), so most people use generators. Everyone was very respectful and followed quiet hours.

Out site was in the "upper loop" There are two sets of men and women's outhouses, but one set was entirely closed off. With the busy Memorial Day weekend, this meant that there was often a line to wait to use the one outhouse available to the upper loop. More outhouses are available in other areas, but for the upper loop this was inconvenient.

Arrived about 5 minutes early.. Camp Hosts were waiting at the check in and expecting us. Very friendly and accommodating. Camp spot was immaculate. Beautiful view and set up. Ranger came buy and she checked that everything was acceptable. Very nice and informative about the site. Perfect weekend!

Holter Lake Campground is accessible via Montana State Highway 200, which is approximately 15 miles to the south. US Highway 287 is also within a 25-mile range, providing further access to the area.

General
- Stay limit is 7 consecutive days and 14 days within a 28-day time period.
- Campsites are limited to no more than 2 RVs or 2 tents or a combination of 1 RV or 1 tent. Each RV or tent is considered a camping unit, and each camping unit costs $25.
- There is no black or grey water dump on site.
- No hook-ups are available. Potable water is available throughout the campground to fill containers.
- Caution: While it is uncommon to sight a bear in the area, it is possible. Bears, racoons, ravens, seagulls, magpies, and other animals will get into your food if not properly stored. Please be prepared to store your food either in your locked vehicle, RV, trailer, or bear-proof container while camping.
- Prairie rattlesnakes and bull snakes inhabit this area. Be cautious of where you step or reach.
- Please watch for ticks and black widow spiders. Both are very common in the area. Black widow bites, while not usually deadly, can be extremely painful and have caused local necrosis of the associated tissues and severe illness.
- If you plan to bring a watercraft with you, please remember to always Clean, Drain, Dry and Inspect your craft for Aquatic Invasive Species.
- Weather can change drastically in this area. Be prepared for any type of weather event.
- Stock animals are not allowed in this facility.
- ATVs, UTVs, and motorcycles must be street-legal. All drivers must be licensed.
- Discounts are only available for those carrying a Senior or Access National Park Pass. You must have your pass with you.
- It is your responsibility to secure property in your site and at the docks.
