the campground was huge and we loved it in spite of no campfire restriction. Camp host was also very welcoming and gave all the information we needed and kept the area very neat. Lake Alpine is very close by to the campsite and it was great to hangout and chill near the lake beach. Our dogs loved the place too. I would definitely love to camp here again next year :)

I don't want to recommend this site because camp sites close to the Bay Area are becoming so hard to reserve but this really is a wonderful campground UNLESS you are uncomfortable with the camp procedures required for bear country. We camp in Yosemite most years and they are far more strict but we were with a family who was a. freaked out by bears entering the campsite at night, and b. annoyed that they had to secure food and scented things at all times. We think it's totally worth it to have walkable access to the lake and roomy campsites. Also, most people were good about mask wearing which may or may not be relevant by the time we're all camping again!
