Reserved #5 campsite for 2 nights. Set up 5th wheel camper trailer, hooked up power then attempted to hook to water. BLM water facet was broken. Contacted camp host and got the impression it had been defective for a long time. He told us to pick another campsite with water and power. Then only other non occupied campsite was #15 however it had a reserved tag on it. Contacted camp host who informed us to go ahead and move to that site and he would "handle" the campers who reserved the site. Broke camp in #5 and set up in #15. At 9:30 pm the campers showed up and wanted to know why we were in there site? I referred them to the camp host at which time there was some kind of "heated discussion". At 75 years old and camping since I was a young Boy Scout, this was by far the worst experience I have ever had. Therefore,
1) BLM should have removed #5 from there online reserved list.
2) BLM maintenance manager should have repaired the faucet in a timely manner.
3) BLM Park Manager should receive a written reprimand and placed in their file. This could have escalated into a dangerous situation beyond what the camp host is capable of, for us and your other camp customers.
4) BLM employees demonstrated a general lack of duty in maintenance and operational capability of the park which reflects negatively on the Management of the Park. A "change" is required!

The nature trail was very informative and beautiful! The group site was well maintained and perfect for the occasion. The gift shop had a great variety of books and gifts.

We love this park! We always stay here when are in this area. We did have a problem with the water faucet in site #5 after we had already set up. Per the park host the faucet has been defective, and needs to be replaced. We are not sure why it was still available for camping? They did move us to another site but having to set up, then having to get everything hooked back up, move to the new site then set up again in 95+ heat was fun. That being said the park is absolutely beautiful and well worth the stop.
