This is a great campground close to Carrizozo, where one can get supplies and gas, but far enough to not hear traffic or trains (just a little bit of noise from the highway that dies down once it gets dark). Bring camping chairs to watch the stars! If you are there on the weekend, visit the no-scum-allowed saloon in White Oaks. Definitely do the nature trail.

Accessible site, wonderful facility, unfortunately encountered local person allowing dog to run off leash and so couldn't enjoy walking path with my elderly parent.

I had read recent reviews about the gnats so I will say that those were annoying. They got us on the morning we were packing up. Thankfully we went on a day that was windy and that helped keep them away so if you can I’d say try to come when it’s windy. Otherwise the view was gorgeous, the walking path was perfect, the restrooms were clean and the staff was helpful. We will be going back again—keeping in mind the weather to not get rained on but to go when theres wind to keep the gnats away.
