Nice place for a gathering or to camp. The walls are paper thin if you stay in a room. Heard every whisper and baby crying all night long. Politely asked to be moved the next morning and the owner didn't hesitate. Also stated that he was up all night due to fighting in the next room to him. However, the area is peaceful and there are places to eat 5 minutes away.

We stayed in the lodge and were pleasantly surprised. My highest priorities were met - clean rooms, good water pressure, plenty of hot water. The manager came off as a bit cold initially but turned out to be a good dude after all. We’ll be back!

Great place to unwind and relax. Whether you are staying in one of the rooms, RV or tent spots, you’re sure to enjoy your stay along the Rio Chama. The owners have gone out of their way to make this a special place and the camp hosts are amazing and super friendly. Wonderful continental breakfast provided if you are staying in one of the lodge rooms. Peaceful, relaxing, rejuvenating… can’t wait to go back!

Posting this for my parents:
My husband and I stayed at Down Home Lodge for five nights, and we thoroughly enjoyed every minute of our stay. We traveled from West Virginia to New Mexico, staying at several hotels along the way, and Down Home Lodge was by far our favorite.
The rooms were beautiful, comfortable, and exceptionally clean. In fact, they were so spotless you could have eaten off the bathroom floor! We stayed in an ADA-accessible room, and as an older couple with mobility challenges, we truly appreciated how spacious and thoughtfully designed it was. The bed was very comfortable, the amenities were excellent, and the shower was one of the best we’ve experienced while traveling.
What really made our stay special, though, was the staff. Every person we encountered was genuinely friendly, welcoming, and eager to help. Their hospitality made us feel right at home.
We truly can’t say enough good things about Down Home Lodge. It exceeded our expectations in every way, and we would gladly stay here again. We highly recommend it to anyone visiting the area!

Beautiful location, but management ruin the experience.
The place itself is very beautiful and comfortable, with artificial lighting, and we really enjoyed watching the animals that wander around. Unfortunately, the attitude of the staff and the poor management completely ruined our stay.
To start, the treatment from the people was quite rude and closed-off. They feel like there is an excess of exaggerated rules. Additionally, the fees feel excessive and inconsistent among campers: they want to charge you an extra fee for each dog, a 5-dollar fee per person, and impose a strict limit of only two people per tent. It's worth noting that they don't rent you an actual campsite; instead, they charge based on the number of tents. Since we were traveling as a group, they crammed us all completely close together, leaving us with absolutely no space for privacy.
The worst part, without a doubt, was the services. With over 150 people at the site, it is unacceptable that the bathrooms were cleaned only once a day. Obviously, they ended up very dirty, and by the last day there was no toilet paper left. Something similar happened with the showers: they had the sections that looked in good shape closed, and we were left with an area of only three showers, two of which were malfunctioning and one was completely broken.
To top it all off, we were given a check-out time of 2:00 PM, but starting at 12:30 PM, they were already telling us to leave in a very strange manner, uncomfortably rushing us out.
It is a shame that such a pleasant natural setting is so neglected in terms of the human and cleanliness aspect. I wouldn't recommend it unless they change their management.
