We had spot 8 and it was amazing!! We will be going back for sure. Absolutely love this campground. Bathrooms were well lit and stocked. Easy access to the creek. About 5-10 mins from a general store. Close to Antonito and Alamosa.

Wonderful campground! Very clean, beautiful, and quiet. We camped next to the creek. The squirrels and chipmunks were very entertaining.

We’ve stayed at this campground several times over the last few years. It’s always been well maintained, super clean bathrooms, and very quiet.

Elk Creek is a very nice National Forest campground. On this particular trip, there were two sites, across from one another, with unruly dogs that were not leashed. One of them, a doberman pincher, ran up to my lab, who was on her leash, barking loudly and baring its teeth. Several other dogs joined in the barking each time we walked past the two campsites. The campground host seemed to do nothing about it. In fact, unlike at most other NF campgrounds, the hosts just buzzed around in their golf cart and pick-up without stopping to say hello or anything. The hosts do a great job with keeping very clean and fresh pit toilet restrooms and overall the campground is kept very clean. Our experiences with loose dogs and unfriendly hosts has been quite different the other two times we stayed at Elk Creek. You will enjoy this campground.

It’s a beautiful area and the campground is nice. The down side is the highway noise and large RVs that run their generators all day and shine bright lights a night dampening the beauty of the dark sky. It would be nice if there was a tent only area. There was a fire ban in effect while we were there and one group of campers built a fire night after night and the camp host said nothing to them and did not respond to our complaints.
