About Lower Fir Group Area

Lower Fir Group Area is a high-energy and highly popular group campground in the Sacramento Mountain area. The site is set away from public roads, so that outside noise is non-existent, leaving only the sweet sounds of rustling aspen leaves. The campground sits within the Lincoln National Forest, which spans 1.1 million acres of undisturbed landscape. Spend your days exploring the mountain trails, or head west for a day trip to White Sands National Monument, the world's largest dune field of pure, white gypsum sand. Bring your camera and binoculars for the chance to observe wild elk, deer, birds, and even an occasional black bear.

Lower Fir is my family’s preferred campground. It has everything we need and plenty of space to spread out. Our camp host, Don, did an excellent job of keeping everything he was responsible for very tidy. Very friendly as well.

Everything was in good shape including the conditions of the forest itself. I didn't hear any complaints from any of our group participants either. Thanks!

I took my church boys, ages 12-17 camping here. The campground was spacious and clean. We had room to spread out and be comfortable. The covered pavilion was a great place to hold our activities during the brief rain showers each day. There was running water available by the pavilion, which made our experience better. This was an ideal location. I highly recommend it.
