My husband and I camped at Rio de Los Vacas for 4 nights. It is a beautiful woody (tall pines) area that is very scenic. The Vault toilets were clean and the host also keeps the campsites clean (fireplaces and sites). The host is very friendly and checks on folks daily.
The hiking trails are not well marked but were lots of fun to explore. There is a (drinking water) water pump at the campgrounds. This is a small campground but clean and nice. There are plenty of fallen trees in the woods for firewood if burning is allowed. Each site has a fire ring with a grill in it.
There is no mobile service or phone service in this area. My service is Verizon and we did not have any service nor did anyone we spoke to at the site.

Most of the campsites are too close together. Leash rule for dogs not enforced. Too close the the road

Camp grounds very nicely maintained and assigned hosts were great. Look forward to this spring and return. Fishing was great in the spring and not so good as it warmed up and river water flow diminished.

Our family enjoyed camping together in Site 4. There was room for a C-Class, a van with a tent attached and a separate tent. We enjoyed hiking up a nice trail behind our site, swimming in the river and sliding down boulders into the water. It rained the whole first day, but that didn’t stop the fun. Trash right across the way, two clean vault toilets within walking distance, a non-intrusive Campground Host and interactions with our neighbors. My dog enjoyed playing with rocks as he was on his leash and we had some excitement helping catch a runaway dog from another camp site. Beautiful drive up, blessed silence and no cell reception added up to a great stay. After checking out, my daughter, son-in-law and two kids took a hike to the nearby lake and had a great swim.
