What Guests Are Saying
Gallo Campground at Chaco Canyon offers a beautiful, serene experience with well-maintained facilities, including clean restrooms and potable water. Campers appreciate the stunning night skies and the opportunity to explore significant historical sites with fewer visitors. While some campers noted issues with noise from others and a lack of privacy between sites, the overall atmosphere is peaceful, and many look forward to returning for another stay.

Campground host was helpful, friendly, flexible, informative, and nice! Facilities awesome for a desert: clean and I thought the water dispensers we're a great advancement.

Excellent on site hosts - they made our visit so much easier as they were both very helpful! The campground is lovely and I wish we could have stayed longer.

The weekday camp host was unbelievably friendly and helpful. We had a bit of a vehicle issue and he gave us some nuts and bolts off of his trailer which made our trip back home much more manageable. The access road is very bumpy but I suppose it keeps the crowds down.
Found the Rangers at the visitor center very knowledgeable and helpful.
The Great Houses and other sites were amazing. We'll be back.

A friendly campground and clean restrooms. And best of all... tie down brackets for tents which made everything work. The hike up to Pueblo Alto is beautiful and varied terrain. Amazing views on top.

Its been 35 years since I was there last, nice new bathrooms with 3 flush toilets in the womens room, very clean , sink and potable water, dump station. Met a lot of nice people and the host was very informative. The visitors center was well stocked with books (2 of which i had brought from home) and a few more to buy. The last 8miles of washboard took us 1 hour and 20 minutes hauling our trailer slowly (our neighbor said they had a brand new big trailer and their shower door fell off, guess they drove too fast). Be prepared for a dust storm or two with face and ear protection (I am still getting sand out of my ears). It is such a lovely place, and was very quiet towards evening, closes at 9pm with gates, with only 4 people at the ruins. There are no trees in the campground so shade of some kind is needed, but it was windy, need anchors. I noticed on the tent bases there were hooks to tie your tent down, do it.

Unfortunately, the main road to the Park is a long enduring major washboard quality drive. Services provided by the rangers and others working in the park is exceptional. Gallo campground is great to stay in. Bathroom facilities were good and clean. Camp host was great. Access to water supply was good. Would definitely go back.

The campground is just fine. Good facilities for campers.
We happened to be there for 2 1/2 days while the wind was blowing 40 to 60 mph. So after 2 1/2 days we had enough wind and decided to leave.
The Park is wonderful though.
