What Guests Are Saying
Black Canyon Campground is praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and beautiful surroundings, making it a favored spot for campers. The spacious sites, friendly camp hosts, and proximity to hiking trails and Santa Fe enhance the overall experience. However, the lack of water has been a consistent issue, and some visitors have reported problems with caterpillar infestations and site accessibility.

Beautiful campground. This is the second time we've camped here & we'll be back! The spots all have nice trees and are a good size.

Black Canyon is a hidden gem. Just seven miles outside of Santa Fe, up a little canyon is a nice little campground. It lies on a bit of a hillside, so they have carved out little flat areas for each campsite. We stayed in site 16 and had plenty of room for our 33’ 5th wheel and our truck. The camp host was welcoming and friendly. The only downside of this campground was that the road was not too wide and it was difficult to get our 5th wheel backed into the spot.

There's still no water! There has been no water for several years now. Same thing with the adjacent Hyde Memorial state park. We knew that going in, but I can't give more stars to a campground that doesn't provide the basics. I also need to mention that the campground road is noticeably overgrown in places. Nothing drastic, but it does reflect a lack of maintenance. And now that I'm thinking about it, they've cut down a number of trees and left piles of four foot logs in several places in addition to piles of brush. I understand the water situation is probably an extremely expensive fix. But the overgrown road and piles of brush indicate lax management.
