What Guests Are Saying
Black Canyon Campground is praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and beautiful surroundings, making it a favored spot for campers. The spacious sites, friendly camp hosts, and proximity to hiking trails and Santa Fe enhance the overall experience. However, the lack of water has been a consistent issue, and some visitors have reported problems with caterpillar infestations and site accessibility.

I’ve camped here many times. This year it appears the Host is doing a great job keeping it clean- the sites and outhouses. Still no water there (I thought it was supposed to be fixed), but we were prepared with our own.

Great campground with lots of space in between sites. Vault toilets were very clean.

Amazing campsite at tent #6. About 150 feet from your car so you need to carry stuff in a bit but the ground was level and site was well secluded from other campers with a nice creek running nearby all night.

Stayed two nights to do some hiking. Nambe Lake trail was awesome. Great campground. Clean. had spot 19, for being on the inside of the loop, definitely the nicest there.

The campground looked great - but we were unable to stay there. Recreation.gov said our campsite was big enough for a 25 foot trailer, it sort of was, but the jack was right on the edge of the road and there was really no where to part my truck and no overflow parking, luckily there is some dispersed camping nearby (just below the Ski Resort).

Black Canyon is one of our favorite campgrounds. We visit here once a year.
The sites are spacious and a good distance from the other sites, the trees are nice shade cover and the road through the site allows for nice walks.
Even though it rained during each day, it was a nice retreat from the heat and noise in the city.
We will be visiting again next year.

These are lovely campsites -- spacious and well cared for. It was quiet at night, and the stars were brilliant. This was a perfect location to get to/from the Santa Fe Opera several evenings.
