Pretty close to Bergen County, NJ, this was a nice camping spot with raised tent platforms, a cozy lakeside beach, a playground for children, and plenty of tall green trees that made the campground feel peaceful and relaxing.
The campground rules are strictly enforced, especially regarding quiet hours and alcohol, which helps maintain a family-friendly atmosphere.
My only disappointment was the bathroom facilities. I go camping every year, and unfortunately, this was the worst-maintained restroom facility I've encountered so far. I hope the state invests in upgrading and maintaining the bathrooms, as it would make the campground much more appealing and attract more campers.

Beautiful property, but completely ruined by rigid and hostile staff.
The campground itself is beautiful, but the staff and rangers ruined the experience. We booked a single weeknight stay and arrived 2.5 hours early. Even though our site was vacant and unreserved for the rest of the week, a staff member smugly refused to check us in before 3:00 PM. He then informed us we weren't even allowed to wait in the parking lot and forced us to leave the property. For a dry campground with no hookups to prepare, this felt entirely unnecessary and unaccommodating.
Later, we went down to the beach area at Lake Welch. The water was cold, which is fine, but the park rangers made the experience worse. They aggressively harassed us to remind us that no lifeguards were on duty and that we couldn't enter the water, carrying a very rude, authoritative attitude.
To top it off, a staff member later demanded we move our second vehicle to the overflow lot due to a strict "one car per site" policy. Despite the campground being nearly empty and the fact that we were leaving early the next morning, management refused to show any flexibility. The supervisor gave us an ultimatum: move the car or pay for an entire second campsite.
The level of indifference and lack of basic hospitality from the staff here is astonishing. I will never camp here again. Save yourself the headache and stick to a day trip only.

Nice camping spot. We were off season so it was very quiet, exactly what we looking for. Sitea are very close so un summer it ia not the kind of campground I would go as it would be way too crowded.

My favorite campground in ny. Was recommended to me by a real pretty lady. The atmosphere was the most diverse I have ever visited in the USA. They allowed music and the campers seemed to form a community and look out for each other. Bears and raccoons came near me. Rangers took care of it without bothering campers. The maintenance and security at this campground is incredible but they still let people bump some beats and relax themselves into the evening. Tibetan soup mad good.
