Overall our trip was great. However, we were not prepared for how thin the blankets on the bed were. They were basically 2 additional sheets and provided minimal warmth. With that being said the campsite was clean and the staff were very friendly.

My wife and I are locals and have stayed at the Lake Powhatan glamping sites four times now, across different seasons. Every visit has been consistently enjoyable, and it’s become our favorite local getaway. The glamping setup makes it incredibly easy to get into the woods with our two dogs — the canvas tents are clean, spacious, and furnished with comfortable beds (with quality sheets!), chairs, a cooler, and just enough power to keep essentials like phones charged. It’s the perfect blend of camping comfort and convenience.
The campground itself is well maintained and thoughtfully run. The bathrooms are always spotless, and the onsite store is a lifesaver when you need ice, firewood, or those little things you forgot to pack. The overall vibe is relaxed and friendly, with guests who genuinely seem happy to be outdoors enjoying this beautiful part of Western North Carolina.
We did have one stay when a large family group stayed loud past quiet hours, and the host didn’t intervene that night. However, during our other three visits, the hosts were extremely responsive — often at a site within minutes of a noise issue. That one instance may have been an anomaly, but I mention it because strict adherence to quiet hours matter to many campers.
The campground absolutely feels safe and non-threatening in any way.
Between the proximity to Asheville, the access to the Bent Creek trails, an actual recreational sized Lake, and the comfortable glamping setup, this is an easy, peaceful retreat that feels close to home yet worlds away. Glaming sites are not the cheapest option, but for the convenience, cleanliness, and comfort you get, it’s absolutely worth it. We’ll continue to return — it’s become our go-to recharge spot in the woods. The tent and RV spots are nearby and all have the same feel and comfort level.

Site was clean and well-organized, bathrooms were clean, having firewood and ice at the Ranger station was clutch, and every employee we interacted with was incredibly kind and helpful (including one who gave us directions to get back on a trail we had lost!) - we all had a wonderful time and will be back to do it again!

- Limit 6 people and 2 passenger vehicles (no trailers or travel trailers) at each site. Read site dimensions and driveway dimension carefully as some sites may only accomodate a single vehicle.
- This site does not allow for an additional camping unit. There is not enough room to accomodate personal trailers, pop-ups, RV units, or 5th wheels. Any person arriving with a reservation for a glamping site hauling aforementioned equipment will be asked to park the equipment off site for the duration of their stay.
- Group parties or special events are not permitted. Be aware that quiet hours begin at 10:00 p.m. Gate closes, but is not locked, at 8 p.m. and opens at 8 a.m.
- The power units have approximately 1000Wh (12.0V, 1,000Ah). They are excellent for recharging phones, laptops, and tablets, illuminating small lights, etc. They are not intended for heavy uses of heaters, large fans, cooking equipment or other heavy electronics. Units cannot be recharged quickly (once the power unit is drained it takes 18 hours to re-charge), so guests should use the power available conservatively. Charge times for various devices are located on the units and if damage or impairment of the normal operation of the unit occurs guests will be liable.
- Due to the natural outdoor environment and the fabrics and canvas of the tent, as well as comfort for future guests, we do not allow smoking inside the tent or on the tent porch. Please also be considerate and remove dirty/muddy shoes or boots on the tent porch.
- Pets are allowed on-site. Dogs must be kept on-leash or contained and supervised for the duration of your stay. Dog fences are not allowed in the campground. Pets are not allowed on the beach.

- No personal boats are allowed on the lake.
- This campground is managed by Naventure.
- Don't Move Firewood. Help protect our forests! Prevent the spread of tree-killing pests by obtaining firewood at or near your destination and burning it on-site. Moving firewood is illegal in some states. Visit dontmovefirewood.org to learn more.
- Swimming area open from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m., Memorial Day to Labor Day.
- Lake Powhatan is located in black bear territory. Visitors are expected to keep all smellable items locked away inside a camper, vehicle, or provided bear box. Visitors who do not comply with this rule may be asked to vacate the facility due to an increased risk of public safety.
