Cape Point Campground sites have a shortened reservation window. Due to the ground saturation and potential for flooding we encourage you to check the sites prior to paying. Cape Point Campground is centrally located to all of the attractions on Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The campground puts you within walking distance of arguably the best fishing and surfing on the east coast.

Great site...love grassy and open sites. Bathrooms/showers were clean and highly functional. (Didn’t mind lack of hot water and the little frogs hanging about where mist welcome.)

Amazing facility in an amazing location where you can go star gazing. Next to cape hatteras and the national seashore. Great amenities. I wish there was a place to go and take refuge when extreme weather (flood,hurricane, pouring rain), but no complaints otherwise.

The bathroom lights are below their hoods and shine bright light all over the place. One cannot see the stars with the light pollution. Appears that in the renovation some forgot to recess the fixtures. Easy solution to extend the facet with 2X2 or tack on flashing piece to arrest the polluting light.

Peaceful place in the middle of nature. We enjoyed our stay very much. Beginning of december, we where almost by outselves, together with the deers roaming the camp.

Visited in November and the place was a mess. Only one bathroom was open and all showers were turned off or broken. No staff on-site that we saw...makes me wonder what we spent our camping fee on. Wouldn't recommend visiting this campsite and we won't be returning.

The campground is in a low lying area that floods easily after a heavy rain. Reservations may be canceled with limited notice.

Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.

Quiet hours are 10:00 pm - 6:00 am - Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.

Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove or other self-contained unit.
General

A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.

There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.

Pets are welcome but must be on a 6' leash at all times. Electronic collars are not considered a leash. Pet excriment must be picked up and disposed of in trash recepticles.

Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.

All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.

All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.

The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
