What Guests Are Saying
Cape Point Campground is a well-maintained and peaceful destination, offering clean facilities and quick beach access, making it ideal for fishing and outdoor activities. Many visitors appreciate the quiet atmosphere, spacious sites, and the presence of wildlife, such as deer and rabbits. While the lack of hot water in showers and occasional flooding during wet weather were noted as drawbacks, the overall experience is highly recommended, with many guests planning to return.

Great campground, lots of grass and little sand which makes it easy and comfortable for lounging, sleeping, and putting up tents. No cactus to be seen. Easy to find a spot to camp and easy access to bathrooms. Lots of open spaces. Really enjoyed laying in the tent and watching the lighthouse at night.

During our brief stay there were not many campers, so we enjoyed the relative quiet and ease of use of restroom/shower facilities. We also appreciate the relatively close proximity to the Ramp 43 access to the Cape Hatteras beach that leads to the Cape. We enjoyed a Ranger led evening program on dark sky constellations. The morning sunrise with great cloud formations made for interesting photography.

Absolutely love the place. I hope it wasnβt wrecked by the most recent hurricane. We will be going back.

I have stayed twice at Cape Point campground. As someone who doesn't need many amenities Cape Point campground is perfect. It's far from roughing it with the availability of showers, flush toilets, and sinks. Both times I have stayed the grounds were quite well maintained, grass was mowed regularly. There was no trash laying around, and the available dumpsters were emptied regularly. I've always felt safe and secure there as well, as the National Park Service Rangers were constantly patrolling. They were always quite helpful when asked any questions. The constant slight ocean breeze really kept the mosquitoes at bay and was quite nice. I never had to use any bug spray. It's a beautiful and quiet location, especially at night, with the view of the stars and the Cape Hatteras lighthouse and the sound of the ocean waves. I absolutely love it there. Any time I think of going to the beach, that is the first place I think of going. Unless you have someone in your party that absolutely has to have air conditioning, you can't beat Cape Point. The price per night is amazing, it makes it nice for those of us who may not be able to afford a rental house or hotel room for a week. It's great that we're able to enjoy the beach for a week at a time as well. I hopefully will be visiting Cape Point Campground a lot in the near future, and if it is indicative of most National Park Campgrounds, it is my hope at some point to visit Yosemite National Park, I would like to stay at a National Park Campground there as well if possible. It's been a lifelong dream of mine. The only recommendation I could come up with for Cape Point is perhaps an emergency shelter for some of the more sever thunderstorms that frequent the area. Although the restrooms would work in a pinch. Other than that, Cape Point campground is fantastic. Thank you and keep up the good work.

Stayed here a few times last season; for the price itβs ok. The whole season the bathrooms were under renovation besides one which meant everyone camped in one area. They need to update for hook ups like Oregon inlet is!!
