Cape Point Campground sites have a shortened reservation window. Due to the ground saturation and potential for flooding we encourage you to check the sites prior to paying. Cape Point Campground is centrally located to all of the attractions on Cape Hatteras National Seashore. The campground puts you within walking distance of arguably the best fishing and surfing on the east coast.

The cabins are very nice and clean. All the utensils you would need included. Trails are fun and easy to walk. My favorite part was just walking on the beach. One morning we saw dolphins. Can’t wait to go back during the summer so we can go to some of the seafood markets near by.

This was a great little off season get away !!! It would be such a score in the summer it’s cheap and a short walk away from the beach. Loved the dunes, the doggos loved it. It was I hit alll around

Great campground! Family-friendly, convenient bathrooms and shower houses (shower houses are rope-pull mechanisms, in case you're wondering), extremely well maintained, easy check-in system, super close to the beach... AND Orange Blossom for my morning apple uglies is a short, short drive away! Love it!

Even though the campground has no hook-ups, the sites are very large. The campground has many sites to choose from. We were there in early October and there was hardly anyone there. It was quite a distance to the beach - about 1/2 mile. We really enjoyed ourselves there and would not hesitate to go back there.

Campground was amazing. I think we just went at the wrong time of year for bugs. LOL. It was a bug apocalypse after sunset. Opened the RV door for 10 seconds to bring something inside and had no less than 500 bugs of some kind fly in. Could hardly go outside without inhaling them by the dozen. Never seen anything like it. Beach was great though and close to the campground! Amazing shells on the beach.

We knew that there wasn't electric or water hookup, but I really wish we would have had it. The campground was nice and not many campers at all.

The star of this experience is Cape Hatteras itself. When we went, it was not too crowded as the weather was stormy just off the coast. However, the beach was extensive and scenic. The campground is not the star, as facilities seem either broken or not working, such as half of the showers. If the campground does get busy, I doubt the facilities can handle the load for all sites. The campground is only a few miles from town so it's easy to get supplies and a fresh meal.

The campground is in a low lying area that floods easily after a heavy rain. Reservations may be canceled with limited notice.

Camping is limited to a total of 14 days of camping between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Making reservations under another name or account to circumvent the 14 day restriction is prohibited.

Quiet hours are 10:00 pm - 6:00 am - Generators must be turned off during quiet hours.

Wood fires are not permitted in the campground. Only charcoal cooking fires are permitted in a grill, stove or other self-contained unit.

A fire may be ignited and maintained only by using fuel sources designed and commonly used for warmth or the preparation of food, such as charcoal briquettes or natural firewood. Lighting or maintaining a fire with other materials including, but not limited to, flammable liquids, garbage, fireworks, plastics, aerosol canisters, batteries, or other manufactured or synthetic materials, is prohibited.

There is a limit of 6 persons per site, a maximum of 2 cars, or 1 car and 1 trailer, and a maximum of two tents.

Pets are welcome but must be on a 6' leash at all times. Electronic collars are not considered a leash. Pet excriment must be picked up and disposed of in trash recepticles.

Biting insects are prevalent in the summer months, therefore netting and repellent are recommended.

All equipment must fit on the site pad; large RVs over 25 feet may have to park second vehicles in auxiliary parking away from the campground, or purchase an additional campsite. Vehicles cannot park on the grass.

All campsites are exposed and subject to weather extremes. There are no shaded sites in the campground.

The Access Pass and both the Senior Annual and Senior Lifetime Pass are the only passes that provide a discount on the fee for the campsite physically occupied by the pass owner, not to any additional campsite(s) occupied by members of the pass owner's party. The discount does not apply to utility hookups. The pass discount must be applied at the time of the reservation; it cannot be applied retroactively.
