What Guests Are Saying
Standing Indian Campground is highly praised for its well-maintained facilities, friendly staff, and beautiful natural surroundings, making it a favorite among campers. Many reviews highlight the cleanliness of the restrooms and the spaciousness of the campsites, particularly in Loop 5, which offers seclusion. National parks are a great treasure and Standing Indian Campground is a gem of a place that allows visitors to have an intimate experience with one of the southeast’s most beautiful wildlands. But what made my visit most memorable was the kindness and professionalism of the staff and the quality of their work which was demonstrated by the organization and overall condition of the camp sites. I hope to be able to return someday. Those who live near the area are indeed lucky to be able to call it home.

Standing Indian is a good campground. However, the camp host refused to turn off their 8 million watt spot light pointed directly at our site, even after we politely asked them to turn it off.

Great campground next to the river, our site was large and spaced out from neighbors, level and long enough for trailer (26ft) plus 2 vehicles. Very nice bathrooms that were cleaned daily. Good camp hosts. Firewood and some supplies available at camp store. No cell phone service at all which I loved

Wonderful, clean, well-spaced campsites in a lovely location. Bathrooms were spotless and hosts were very helpful. Definitely one of my favorites.

An excellent campground in a great place…only thing needed is electricity and a closer dump station to the campground. Great trout fishing. Please Superintendent…get electricity at this great campground for all the folks that live this place.

We really enjoyed Standing Indian Campground. The staff were courteous, friendly, and very helpful.
However, the Recreation.gov system 1. is not easy to use, 2. does not include all the necessary information (e.g. we did not know Loop #5 would not open until May 15 until we arrived), and 3. is very impersonal -- camping is a very personal experience and it should begin that way too.

I've been going to Standing Indian Campground for years. I grew up nearby and it has always been special to me. To be honest, I think it's one of the few hidden gems left in our area. The grounds and facilities are well-maintained, it's clean, the people are friendly, and you can't beat the location. Conveniently located just outside of Franklin, this makes it perfect for those who may be new to camping, want the camping/outdoors experience, but aren't quite up for venturing off too far just yet. It really has everything. Spend enough time there and you'll soon realize, people are like family up there. It's a hotspot for locals, and I believe that's one of the things that makes it so wonderful. The people in the area have really done a good job at making sure it lasts for generations to come. About the only thing not "up to date" is cell-service, but to me, that's an added bonus because I don't have to worry about my phone. Do yourself a favor a checkout Standing Indian. Spend sometime hiking around the trails, swim in the creek, get to know the camp hosts (and the other locals who spend summers there), and who knows, if you're lucky, you might even see some wildlife!
