Wonderful first trip to Cape Lookout. Spent 3 days with my 2 sons and grandson. Not many places left in the world where you can sit on the beach and look up and down the beach and see no one else. The southern area, near the lighthouse, had more people, but was not crowded at all. Had some luck fishing and caught 5 nice red drum. Cabin worked well. It is spartan, but the stove & oven worked well and the bathroom was fine. Only issue was the shower, very low water flow and the hot water would would come and go. I brought a generator and that was nice, but not necessary. A couple of battery powered lanterns would work as well. My grandson had a ball driving on the beach. Already planning another visit.

Our cabin (4) had many missing or torn window screens so we were unable to use those windows as we didn't want to deal with flies coming in. Some of the screens were attached only with tape which obviously did not hold up to the elements. The porch screens are installed on the inside of the porch so there was no window ledge available to sit things on. Also there was no water hose at the vehicle wash down area. Other than that our stay was great. Some of us have been coming here for 30+ years and we always have a wonderful time.

Everything worked, hot water heater, propane stove, etc. Can't beat the views and proximity to the beach. Next time might bring a generator for some bigger fans that what we had!

Great time. Cabins are rustic but do the job. We had a wonderful time can can’t wait to go back.

Always a great experience, we are now trying to book a possible 4th trip to the island!
This is our new annual tradition with family.
