The facilities are not meant for showering just basic bathroom, cold water. The spike ball grass burrs are a massive annoyance they're everywhere and stick to everything including you and your pet, your camping equipment, towels, etc and they hurt. So be aware that this is not for glamping. The weather was brutally hot & humid and thunderstorms dumped bucketloads for hours. Not the best outing for sure, glad to be back in New England. This OBX location probably best visited if you have A/C and hot water in an RV. Its located just before the Oregon Inlet bridge however and access to Rodanthe, Waves, Salvo not far and shopping, food, supplies in Nags Head close by. I lived in NC for 8 yrs so I knew the spot well just never camped there before.

Great location! Spacious sites. Access to the beach. All for a tiny fraction of the cost of a beach cottage! Bathrooms and showers were nice and clean. Thank our rangers, who are doing a great job!

Trek to the beach is a little bit of a hike. If possible, take vehicle to drive to the beach. Make sure to lower air pressure to recommended psi. Enjoyed our stay there.

Was a little windy so bring deep stakes for your tent other than that absolutely beautiful and so much to do you don't need to leave camp, explore trails, dunes, beach comb go to the lighthouse. Great family experience

We are a return visitor. Great location in the mid Outer Banks. Restaurant next door at Oregon Inlet Marina is top notch. In addition to Bodie Lighthouse don’t miss out on Oregon Inlet Lifesaving station. Just across the bridge onto Hatteras Island

Great campground, great Parks staff. Very easy access to wonderful beach. Exposed to elements so be prepared for a whole range of weather - afternoon thunderstorms can be quite severe with very strong winds.
If you take car on beach the access is VERY deep loose sand so pay attention to lowering tire pressures as directed by access signs. 4-5 free air inflation lines are available across the road at the marina.
Was our second visit - love it, will be back.

The beach over the dunes from our tent was beautiful and a short walk and not crowded especially in the early morning before people in their trucks showed up (you can drive on the beach there). The tent sites didn’t have defined tent pads. There were lots of sand spurs. Some ticks. It rained a lot and there was standing water where the car was parked. The showers were one temperature which was hot but that was probably because we had high temperatures. I suspect in cool weather the showers would be cold. If the wind was blowing from the east you didn’t notice road noise but if wind from the west you did notice road noise. The bathrooms and water access was fine and clean enough for a sandy environment. I’d camp there again in cooler weather.

Nice but there is no shade anywhere. No trees at all. The access to the bathrooms should be from both sides. Currently, if you are on the side with no access, you have to trespass across other peoples sites if you don't want to walk all the way around to the actual entrance. The bathrooms were reasonably clean but the showers need some attention. Plus you can't control the temperature of the water. The little shelf in the corner was broken in both of the showers near me.
