What Guests Are Saying
Lake James Camping Resort offers a friendly and relaxing atmosphere, with helpful staff and clean, comfortable cabins that guests often find well-stocked. Many visitors appreciate the ease of contactless check-in and the pleasant outdoor spaces. However, some guests have noted issues with cabin size and amenities, particularly for larger groups, and there are concerns about limited lake access and overcrowding at the pool.

Stayed on an RV site this weekend. Great friendly staff, plenty of waves while walking through. Very friendly atmosphere and very relaxing. We will return back to campground.

Had such a great stay in one of the cabins here. The cabin is spotless, comfortable and efficiently stocked for home away from home. Our group arrived after office hours and left early and contactless checking in and out was very easy. Would very happily recommend!

Stayed in cabin 12 for the Mammoth March 2025. The cabin was immaculate and cozy! Smelled fresh and brand new each time we walked inside! The staff at the check-in office were so helpful and kind and very very friendly. Can’t wait to go back again! Wonderful stay with Lake James Campground.

We spent a long labor day weekend here. We shared cabin #3 with a befriend couple. My wife and I took the bunk bed room . She used the large bed, I took the small one opposing her. The sleeping conditions in the bunk bed room were unsuitable for adults. Thin mattresses without any kind of comfort. Talking about sleeping on a wooden board ... Tiny room with no space for luggage or clothes, although it had an air conditioning. The bathroom was tiny , too. The shower worked well but was tiny so I could only go in backwards and out forward. The rest of the cabin was nice but very small. We got lucky that we had excellent weather so we could spent all the time outside on the spacious porch. The sleeping soda was plain out gross. Full of stains and a smell of old garbage. We put a heavy blanket on it and didn't touch not to provoke the smell to come out . Parking was plenty. Staff was very friendly. The long term residents were all very friendly. Swimming was possible at 1 spot, only. Dogs were not allowed there. Our golden retriever ignored the sign and went for a splash several times. To be fair, no one said a word or repremanded us. There is not much to do here. Jet skis were sold out (360$ for the day), and kayaking was ok but rather boring and somewhat dangerous venturing to the open lake due to heavy and fast sport boat traffic. The pool on the other side of the road was accessible but really small and well visited. It felt rather cramped.
For a family with kids this cabin might be well suited. For a group of 4 or 6 adults it is not good enough. For fairness reasons I like to mention that the cabins have a different layout. It might very well be that this business has cabins that fit a group of adults. A call to the friendly and helpful reception office might provide the best option before booking.

This has to be the most awkward campground we have ever been to. We were unaware that the campground itself is a storage facility for campers. There are zero trees to provide shade, zero picnic tables to eat outside. Also not to mention if you book a site you are actually across the street from the lake and have zero lake access or mountain views. You are basically in a parking lot with other empty campers. With it being June our camper got to over 88 degrees at one point with our dogs inside due to lack of shade. The pool is nice, however, watch out as locals will come and use the same pool and it will become crowded quickly with non camping guests. Learn through us and don't book this place for $75 a night. Spacious Skies is a great alternative :)
