What Guests Are Saying

Oyster Point Campground offers spacious and well-maintained sites, friendly hosts, and a peaceful atmosphere, making it a great choice for those seeking solitude. Visitors appreciated the proximity to local attractions and the beautiful water views, ideal for kayaking and fishing. However, some concerns were raised about bug issues, bathroom cleanliness, and reservation management, particularly during peak summer months.

We loved camping out at the camp ground and it served as a great base to explore Beaufort and the surrounding communities. We brought kayaks but unfortunately the wind created too much chop on the water to go out. We plan on going back to explore (and kayak) when there is less wind!

A beautiful group of sites, right on the Newport River. No showers/normal toilets, but plenty worth it!

Oyster Point had extensive work done over the winter. They put in new picnic tables, fire pits and removed the standing dead trees. When they did all this work they removed all of the low growth. We loved all of the low growth because you could not see another site from your site. Oyster Point is now open like many other National/State parks. For us it has lost it's rustic and wilderness atmosphere.

Very nice campground. Very nice host. We enjoyed Oyster Point very much. Our site was number 1, and it has a beautiful view of the river and easy access to the trail for kayak launching. There is no electricity on the sites and water must be hauled from remote faucets but we enjoyed the primitive location. We camped twice in January and February of 2023 and enjoyed it very much.

Wonderful experience. The campground host - Tanya - was very engaging , helpful, and friendly. I can see a lot of landscaping has recently been done to enhance the riverside experience. Bathrooms are in tip top shape as are the campsites. Easy to get to. I highly recommend camping here. I used this as a base for hiking the Neusiok / Mountains to Sea Trails. Also close to Newport with its Shortway Brewery, Food Lion, and gas stations.

  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.
