Campsite was full of mosquitoes and bugs. Would not recommend this campground during summers.
Also there were some other campers who had loud music and neon lights till 4am in the morning.
I expected Park authorities to warn the campers for creating the nuisance, but no such action was taken.
We left the very next day even though se had bookings for 3 nights as the nuisance and bugs were unbearable.
P.S. we did had bug spray but it was of very little help.

I have never seen a campground with so many biting insects. Big bugs, medium sized bugs, small bugs...they all wanted to eat. No amount of bug spray, or citronella candles, deterred those demon bugs! The campground hosts were very nice.

The host was amazing and the campsite was large. However, this place is a "you get what you pay for" type of place. The vault toilets were full of flies, no sinks, and no showers. They do have potable water. The bugs were so bad that we avoided being outside after sunset. We woke up to small black flies in our tent (they made it through the mesh windows) and proceeded to pack up.

I solo kayak-paddled into the campground. A great campground for dispersed tent camping. Had a great time and looking forward to going back. The campground host is as nice as they come. The best campground in Carteret County in my opinion.

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.

    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
