Beautiful little campground right in the shores of Ocracoke Island. Our spot was easy to get in and out of. Lots of space, picnicking table, charcoal grill. No hookups. There is water at the campground and a bathhouse ( we didn’t use). Dump station across the road. Easy beach access for your truck directly next door. We love this place and we’ll be back!

This campground has everything you may need. The only thing I wish they had was warm showers. I prefer tent camping to experience more of a rugged feel but I do envy people with campers as they can take a hot shower. This is definitely one of the nicest campgrounds! I love how the 4x4 access is right beside the campsite as well. You can’t have a fire on the cam ground but you can have a fire on the beach which is pretty cool!

Awesome camping spot although no hook-ups the dump and water is across the street. Kept really clean and we were on the back area near the dunes and could hear the ocean at night. Watch out for the stickers in the grass they are everywhere.

I love staying at all of the campsites along the Outer Banks. This was my first stay at Ocracoke and the experience was similar. They are very well maintained, and in the fall they are mostly empty. You're almost guaranteed a campsite right along the dunes with direct access to the ocean via an existing trail. There's a picnic table and a fire ring at each site. Convenient showers (no hot water) and toilets and dumpsters for your trash. I'm sure even in summer it's very relaxing here compared to the popular beaches that don't need a ferry to get to them. The price, however, is quite high. They should consider a deeper price cut for the colder/in-between seasons. At $28 I was better off driving back to the north end and taking the ferry off island to boondock somewhere rather than staying two nights.

On the beach, close to a nice short hiking trail, bike path going to the village…

Beautiful beaches and campsites. Warning that the showers are only cold water so if it's cold out you will find the shower chilly.

A lovely campground, quick walk over the path in the dunes to a gorgeous beach and the staff was very friendly and helpful. The town of Ocracoke was so nice, we enjoyed the restaurant recommendations. This was definitely our favorite stop on our East Coast trip.

Great spot right behind the dunes. No hookups which is good, keeps the crowds away but nice bathrooms and great rangers and hosts. Many mosquitoes at times but that should be expected. Nice walk/hike on the Hammock Hills trail. Accessing the beach is very easy either by vehicle with proper permit or on foot. The lighthouse is a must see with volunteers manning it Wed-Sat afternoons. Another hike is the Springers Point trail. The people at the visitor center were very friendly and knowledgeable. Our stay was extended because the weather made ferry traffic unsafe. So if you go keep an eye on the weather. Hurricanes and nor'easters can disrupt schedules. There are no big stores but you can find most necessities at the Variety Store.
