Davison River Campground always provides a good camping experience, however conditions of roads and camping spurs are in need of repair and routine maintenance. The reservation system doesn't provide for walkup access to any campsites, which denies many potential campers on tight work or school schedules to experience the campground.

We had a great time at the campground and on the river in early October. Campsite was excellent and the staff was very friendly. We will make another trip in the future.

We go this campground a few times a year and love it. Thankfully they are closing for a much needed bathroom overall. They were the only negative.

We have been coming to this campground for45 years. It has changed over the years but it still is our go to spot for camping in the mountains. Looking forward to the bathroom upgrades

Been going to Davidson River for more than 30 years. It is our favorite campsite! Have great memories here with our children. Always feels like we are coming home. Love it!!

We have stayed over 6 times here and usually have great experiences. Not as much this time unfortunately. The site had heavy thorn vines as you exit your vehicle that I had to cut away. Back into the site with my camper took numerous attempts due to the protective holders around the leaking water pipe, thus it is not an easy site to back in a trailer. It’s great to hear the restrooms are being upgraded, however they need more electrical sites established. We never are able to reserve one and that has caused me to seek alternative facilities in the future.

From Asheville, North Carolina, take I-40 West to I-26 East to Exit 40 (Airport Road/Asheville Regional Airport), onto State Highway 280. Continue south 15.5 miles on 280 to Pisgah National Forest. Turn right at the intersection of Highway 280/64/276. Go north on 276 for 1 mile. Follow signs to the campground.

A number of first-come, first-serve sites are offered during the winter only. Availability is extremely limited during peak season, weekends, and holidays. It is recommended that visitors reserve other sites ahead of time. |

Single campsites are limited to 2 vehicles per site and double campsites limited to 4 vehicles per site. Additional vehicles wishing to park at the site are subject to a $5.00 per vehicle fee. |

All campsites must be occupied the first night of a reservation. Any unoccupied site on the first night will be released for other users and reservations will be cancelled without opportunity for refund. |

Pets are allowed on-site and must be supervised for the duration of your stay. Dogs must be kept on-leash or contained for the duration of your stay. Dog fences are not allowed in the campground. |

Davidson River is located in black bear territory. Visitors are expected to keep all smellable items locked away inside a camper, vehicle, or provided bear box. Visitors who do not comply with this rule may be asked to vacate the facility due to an increased risk of public safety. |

Generators may be used up to 4 hours per day between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.; generators not allowed on Poplar Loop (sites 99-113) |
