This was first experience camping. My best friend and I camped at Davidson River Campground for my birthday on Halloween. We had a wonderful experience. Registering on recreation.gov was simple. The Camp Host was fantastic. I will definitely camp again.

Facilities and campsite were great. Checkin and check out were easy too. Only problem was two sets of very loud drunken neighbors who didn't respect the 10pm quiet time rule. They were cursing up a storm at the top of their lungs while everyone else tried to sleep. They only quieted down after I was fed up at 11pm and confronted both groups. The campground website and emails indicate that there is a campground host on each circle but ours was either afraid to intervene or was not present.

Only downside to campground is no water hook up and only a few electrical. You have to book exactly six months ahead of want electrical. But that being said…we keep coming back every Fall. Great location in the National Forest and the Park staff always incredibly friendly and helpful. Close to the lovely town of Brevard and close to beautiful hikes.

This trip was a delight. Ridiculously good weather for the last weekend in October and the foliage was still in good form!
Cheerful, helpful people in the gatehouse. Facilities clean and all well maintained. Only fly in the ointment, campers arriving late my last night who left their dog out to bark at length at midnight and again at 1 am. That puts one on edge, waiting for the next occurrence.
Other than that, all campers and animals were well behaved. Had a fine 4 days.

We love Davidson River Campground!! We go at least once a year and twice when we can. Our grandchildren love to ride bikes on the loops or play by the river. Its kept very clean, the sites are well maintained and the staff is so friendly and helpful.
