Great campground to see the elk or hike some trails but compared to the others in smokey NP, this one seems to be ignored. No showers, no nothing....barebones. about a 45 min drive to main part of park. Enjoyed being somewhat secluded. Super host!

A nice small and quiet campground away from the main roads. Good road for bicycling to see the Elk and close to numerous hiking trails.

Campground hostess was very Helpful. There are many hiking trails in the area. Easy flat walk to view the elk. Will go back to do more hiking.

Love this spot! Right on a river, lots of space around us with woods, a nice grill to cook on. I highly recommend it!

From I-40 take Exit 20 in North Carolina. Turn right onto Cove Creek Road and follow to the Park boundary. The road goes from pavement to gravel to pavement. Upon reaching the pavement the second time, turn left. Go 2.5 miles to an intersection and continue another .5 miles to the left.
Cataloochee Campground is accessible via I-40, with Exit 20 providing the nearest access point. From the interstate, travelers can reach the campground by following Cove Creek Road to the park boundary.
