We always enjoy Bandit's Roost. This time we stayed in site #75, close to the shower house and the marina. The site is deep and private. Other family stayed across the street and we had a great time. As always, staff was friendly, and the park was clean and well-maintained. We like being able to purchase firewood at the campground for a reasonable price.

This is a very nice and clean campground. It's a great place for mountain bikers. The trails around and near the lake are top notch. The people who care for this place and work here do a great job. I would have given it 5 stars, but there are drainage issues. I had the opportunity to experience that at two different sites. One site I did some work to solve the standing water issue.

From Winston-Salem, North Carolina, take Highway 421 North (approximately 55 miles) to Exit 286B, turn left onto Highway 268 and continue for approximately 5 miles. Turn right onto Jess Walsh Road. Campground entrance is located at the end of the road.
From Charlotte, North Carolina, take I-77 North (approximately 60 miles) before merging onto Highway 421 North towards Wilkesboro/Boone. Continue to Exit 286B (approximately 20 miles), turn left onto Highway 268 and continue for approximately 5 miles. Turn right onto Jess Walsh Road. Campground entrance is located at the end of the road.

Winston Salem: 1 hour.
Charlotte: 1.5 hours.
The campground is accessible via Highway 421, which is approximately 5 miles from Highway 268, and I-77 is also within reach, merging onto Highway 421 toward Wilkesboro/Boone.
