Friendly Quiet campground overall. Swim at the lake and watch the sunset and enjoy the forest setting around you. The trail is a mess and no real place to hike if that is your thing. Bring your boat and enjoy the lake.

I was in spot 32. It was right next to the water but a very muddy path down to the water. We didn't even try. The spot itself was nice but not level enough to get the auto level to quite work. The loop is pretty tight, really too small for bigger class A rigs. Mine is a 26 foot and I had no problem. We enjoyed the stay.

Stayed 5 nights in site 75 in the B loop. Volunteer at the gate was very friendly when we checked in. Site was nice and in good shape. Relaxing location with most things you need nearby in Wilkesboro.

Clean neat campsites, odd arrangement for picnic table and fire ring, ten or more steps down from where camper parked, also right behind, next campers RV. Not all sites. Bathrooms were functional, dated and older.

We love this campground. However, we do not like recent changes. The entry gate has been broken for 2 years, with use of movable barriers, making it much less secure. There are no full-time employees to contact with questions or concerns. Park rangers drive through only occasionally. Maintenance of the grounds is sporadic - we had weeds growing through the gravel on our site. All the small trees have been removed on the campsites near the water on the outer loop A and it looks so bare. Yet there are many scrubby small trees growing around other sites that add nothing of value. No problems with litter and we do not use bath houses. We still camp here but not as often as in years past. Most reservations must be scheduled 6 months out.
