A good campground to spend the weekend for some downtime. But close enough to town to go and explore if that is something you want to do.

Very nice well kept campground. Hosts were very nice and helpful. Close to places to hike and close to Boone. Wilksboro has many places to eat and shop at. Would be nice to have the site's picnic tables pressure washed. Great campground.

We really enjoy this place, on this particular trip, we did have an issue, our site was listed as moderate as far as a back in. Never had an issue before but that site was more than what my truck could do. It was a back in site going uphill. Talked to the shack attendants, and eventually they were able to get in touch with a ranger and relocate us to a different site. Super pleased, but might want to reevaluate site listing and grade of sites.
We will definitely be returning next summer like we have for the last 3 years. One of our favorite places to go.

It was a lovely stay, they only downside was that the campsites were pretty close together but other than that, great! It's was nice having water on site and a campfire ring for use
