We had a nice site with a view of the hills (68), and on several occasions, the buffalo and wild horses came through the campsite area. A great campground, although the ground on part of our site wasn't terribly level.

Host was very friendly and stopped to share stories. Horses and bison right in the campground! Even though you can have generators, did not hear many, it was very quiet! Big rig friendly-we are
a 36’ Class A.

We were prepared for no shower house and possible pit toilets, but if you go early season they may not even have non potable spigot water set up. The nearest pit toilet we could find was in the picnic area pretty far from our site. Fire rings are not included, you theoretically could have a fire in the charcoal grill 3 feet off the ground, but not what I expected for a site that allowed campfires. Overall we decided not to stay because of these factors, all of which were not too clear when we made the reservation. It does not restroom water may not be on, but to have no other nearby source of any water, even non potable so we could filter, was just too much for us to want to deal with, wish the information before booking was better. We didn’t bother asking for a refund because the one plus is that the sites are quite inexpensive.

Cottonwood was absolutely beautiful! Potable water wasn’t available for some reason and the pit toilets were pretty full. Otherwise we had a great experience.

No water available anywhere in the campground made our visit challenging. There was only one distant restroom nearby.

We camped in space 47 the first weekend in May which backed up to the river. The wildlife was out everywhere. I thought maybe it was because it was early in the camping season (less people). Our site was perfect. The day we arrived, the wild horses were right across the river by late afternoon and were there for a couple hours…as were the bison! For a couple nights we heard coyotes, owls, and wild turkeys. We did have a bison graze right through our site but we stayed quiet and let him go on by! What an experience. Just need to always remember give them room…even if you are sitting in your tent! Don’t get up for a photo op! Stay put and quiet. Even tho the loop through the park didn’t go all the way around due to the coal vein fire, there was still a lot to see and the trails were not crowded. We were there for 4 days & 3 nights and that was perfect. We will be returning for sure! Hopefully when the musical is open for the season!
