What Guests Are Saying

West Ashtabula Crossing is a charming campground with well-spaced sites and good access to water, making it ideal for boating and kayaking. Many campers appreciated the new electrical upgrades and the friendly park rangers who ensured safety. However, some noted challenges with the check-in process and uneven ground conditions at certain sites, which could make navigation difficult, particularly for larger campers. Overall, visitors enjoyed their experiences and expressed a desire to return.

Nice little campground! My boys and I spent the night here in our tent. Half of thw sights are near the water with accessibility to thw water through thw cattails in spots if you woukd like to beach your boat near your site. The boat ramp is seconds away from all the sites and very good. If you are bringing a large camper you may have to be a little more selective with sites as some are a little easier to navigate than others. For us and a tent it didnt matter and the gravel pads were fairly level. Even though it is a smaller campground the sites for the most part were spaced well enough that you didnt feel like you were right on top of your neighbor. The only reason I give 4 stars is the checking in/reservation system was a bit confusing. There is an online option but when you get there the sign says you have to check in. The reservation board has several options for what you need to do and it was confusing. Luckily a couple of park rangers stopped by and told me since I got an online reservation I didnt need to do anything else accept inhabit my site. I would recommend purchasing your site online so all you have to do is go to your site and setup. The rangers will check you in when they come through is what they told us. Overall great experience and a nice park. We will back I'm sure.

The campground was very nice with large campsites and new water spigots however the low rating was due to our poor experience because our neighbors arrived late, proceeded to set up music and flashing lights and talk loudly until 3 or 4 am. Quite hours started at 10pm and a park ranger did drive through a couple times right before then but we never saw them after 10 or talk to the loud neighbors.

Of the Corps campgrounds we have visited this was the most rustic of all. No shower house as advertised, dirt roads and lots. We were the only campers. The host did direct us to another Corp grounds for showers and these were much nicer. I would not return here in future as a shower is important to me.

Nice campground. Unfortunately the power wasn't on at our site. It must of been too late in the season. Nice fish cleaning station. Will be going back.

Policies & Rules

Cancellation policy

  • Reservation fees are non-refundable. For campsites, cabins, lookouts, yurts, group sites, and similar stays, we charge a reservation service fee of $8.
  • Standard cancellations usually have a $10 cancellation fee. Customers can generally cancel before the check-in date online.
  • Late cancellation rules differ by stay type.
    • Individual campsites: cancelling after 12:00am local time the day before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • Cabins, lookouts, and yurts: cancelling less than 14 days before arrival usually means a $10 cancellation fee plus forfeiting the first night's fee.
    • One-night reservations: a late cancellation usually forfeits the full amount paid, up to the total original reservation cost.
  • Modifications are allowed before the cut-off window, but fees depend on the change. Changing to dates completely outside the original reservation dates may trigger a $10 change fee. Extending or shortening a stay that still includes original dates usually has no change fee, though refunds may depend on timing and facility rules. Switching to the same type of campsite for the same dates usually has no change fee, but price differences are charged or refunded.
  • Early departures may or may not be refunded. At certain facilities, partial refunds may be possible if staff can mark the site available for other visitors. No refund is given for a night if the early departure is requested after that day's check-out time.
  • Security deposits are separate. Security deposits may be refunded to the original payment method if the facility is left in acceptable condition, as determined by the property.

  • No outside firewood is allowed due to invasive insect concerns.
  • Buy firewood locally and burn it on-site to protect forests from pests.
