We stayed at Big Bend. Nice lake, nice campgrounds. Very roomy and lots of shade. The restaurant at the dam is nice, has a good selection of food, tackle, etc. There are a lot of other campgrounds and day-use sites, especially on the lake side opposite Big Bend, so make sure to consider those as well. Check in was easy. We thought we might be arriving after hours, but an attendant greeted us at the gate. We didn't receive any communication or instructions electronically regarding what to do if checking in after hours, but I do believe there were instructions at the gate if that happens. If you are arriving after hours, it might be a good idea to call ahead to make sure you won't run into any issues.

Sites were advertised (at least implied) as 100% shaded. My site was 100% full sun all day with no shade ever. It was terribly hot. I scheduled a 2 day stay but left before the first day was over.
I have a little dog and the blacktop was way too hot to take him for a walk. Taking him for a walk in the grass was impossible because All the “grassy” areas were full of stickers, goat heads, and sandburrs. I will never return to this campground. I’ve been to other Oklahoma campgrounds and have had great experiences at the others. If you like stickers to walk in, this is the place to go.

We love Canton lake. We both grew up there and that's where we take our family.

Big Bend was very peaceful and the spot we got by the water was plenty spacious to have a little friendly interaction with our neighbors but still by nice and peacefully quite.
