Big Bend was absolutely beautiful! We stayed in Campground A. It was peaceful and serene. It was easy to navigate. We used the boat docks and we didn’t have any issues getting the boat in or out of the water. My children enjoyed seeing all the fish plopping out of the water.

My husband and I Love the Big Ben area . B sites are where we like ke to stay . It is clean & kept up very well. I have noticed that traffic coming in and out during our stay there. Ppl are driving to fast . It is very concerning, due to the fact that there are children riding their bikes and playing ..

Canton lake has beautiful clean water. We had a large group of tent campers, with about five small children. Our trip was first few days of June. We had site A4- this site did have stickers, and did not have easy access to the water for swimming. We drove the Sandy Beach Cove for our swim time, which is a mom’s oasis- the water doesn’t get deeper than 5 ft at this swim site. The trees at our camp site were a stretch away from the hang out area (cooking onning and fire pit) that dynamic was a little tricky because we wanted our tents under trees for shade, and our snack supply, so it was being sun baked. I’d highly suggest always bringing a rain tarp and rain fly. The ‘tropical oasis’ description is true in more ways than one. Pretty calm by day and had some random wind and rain storms at night. All in all we will be going back and exploring different camp sites and swimming areas.

The campsite was in good condition but it is totally ridiculous and illegal that the people in the two campsites south of us B34 and B36 smoked marijuana from first thing in the morning until late at night all four days. Medical marijuana might be legal at your home in Oklahoma but it sure isn’t legal on federal (corp) land. There was even a game warden eating dinner at the campsite across from us one evening and he totally ignored it. Those people smoking had kids with them the entire weekend and I had my grandkids with me and they shouldn’t have to be exposed to that.

From Canton, OK, travel 1.8 mi west on HWY 51, then continue 4 mi north on the paved county road.
Highway access
Big Bend Recreation Area is accessible via HWY 51, which connects to Canton, OK.
Policies & Rules
General
- There are no sewer site hookups at this campground
- 2-night minimum required during the annual Walleye Rodeo (Thursday-Sunday the week after Mother's Day)
- Maximum of two tents per campsite, or one RV and one tent per campsite
- Pets are not allowed at the Sandy Cove beach day-use area
- Don't Move Firewood: Protect your forests from tree-killing pests by buying your firewood locally and burning it on-site. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.
- Gate House hours: April 1-30 & Tuesday following Labor Day to September 30 - ; May 1 to Labor Day - .
- Fees are collected by self-payment through Recreation.gov in October. Shower houses may be winterized and closed in late October.
- Electricity and/or water may be turned off November through March. No charge for camping during this time.
