What Guests Are Saying
Belle Starr Campground is praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and friendly staff, making it a top choice for campers. Many visitors enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful lake views, and spacious pull-through sites, with ample wildlife to observe. Some concerns include limited restroom availability during off-peak months and the presence of stickers in the area, but overall, guests express a strong desire to return.

May possibly be our favorite spot so far. Bucket list is to visit every state park and COE in the state

I love this campground (especially East because of the sand and easier access to water at lake front sites), however, the pads are in desperate need of upkeep. In my popup camper the pads are so small that my tiny camper barely fits and where our door is the pad is broken and it makes it unsafe to get out without a fall risk. They are far too narrow and broken and many are barely long enough to park your camper and your vehicle (especially since you aren't supposed to park on the grass). The other downside is the stickers. Outside is outside and I understand that. However, at a place where you will probably have many people barefoot and dogs running around your campsite, it make it very unpleasant. We literally were personally pulling up sticker patches from the sand trying to prevent our kids/dogs getting covered. Don't get me wrong, I know that stickers are hard to get rid of but it would definitely make for a more enjoyable stay to a very beautiful area. We have stayed at a few spots here so far and have determined that some spots we just will no longer stay in and if they are the only ones available then we will just go elsewhere (because if the pads falling apart). I do love this campground, but I also see SO much more potential for it with just those 2 issues being addressed.

Excellent! The park hosts were present, helpful and friendly. The park grounds were beautiful and well maintained! The only thing we found that folks need to be aware of is the water hookups are shared with the adjacent campsite and were quite a distance from our trailer. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and it is definitely a place we hope to return to in the future!!

Great site, just bring a little extra wood for leveling.. pavement slab starting to deteriorate.. but not bad..cook fire pedestal broke.. needs replaced.. all in all everything was minor. Room enough to play you outside games and fish.

Beautiful site, plenty of room between campsites with easy access to the water. This site has a huge gorgeous tree on the drivers side of the RV with a lot of shade. Our only complaint was that the grass was FULL of goat head stickers. This may be different at different parts of the year, but in early October they made the enjoyable space confined to the concrete and our rug area. Bathroom stalls are not able to be secured with locks.

Lots of horse flies. Swimming beach west was pretty junky.
However, gate host was fairly helpful and we did have a wonderful weekend so ...

I know it was late in the season, but the amount of fire ants was terrible. Also prickers in the grass, which may be unavoidable. It would be helpful to be able to speak to a ranger on the phone during the weekend: there was an unanchored boat that had run ashore and no one to tell. The venue itself was gorgeous.
