What Guests Are Saying
Belle Starr Campground is praised for its cleanliness, well-maintained facilities, and friendly staff, making it a top choice for campers. Many visitors enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, beautiful lake views, and spacious pull-through sites, with ample wildlife to observe. Some concerns include limited restroom availability during off-peak months and the presence of stickers in the area, but overall, guests express a strong desire to return.

Camped on site C32. We have been camping at Belle Starr for 30 years and I don’t ever remember seeing it this shabby. The grass was knee deep and the entire park was covered with downed dead tree limbs and brush, some in large piles. I know that there have been some storms in the area, but most of this looks to have been there for quite some time. Also, the fire ring on our spot was full of trash, etc. We will continue to camp there, but do wish that the Corps would clean the place up.

Grass was so high that you could lose your grandchild just feet from campsite.
Gate Attendants are awesome, helpful, bathrooms are well taken care of and clean, Park Rangers are polite and eager to assist you in any way.
Great Place For Families.
One thing I find annoying for campers is the 100% reservable camp. What you find is the campground is only partially occupied from Sunday Evening till Friday. You can’t reserve for the 2 week allotted timeframe cause all weekends are already reserved. This leaves the park empty for 4 days and not many want to pull down and set up for a short period of time. When the park was first come first serve several years ago it was always full. Yes I agree some sites should be reservable but also for the betterment of all involved there needs to be some first come first serve sites available for those that want to camp other than just the Monday through Friday Timeframe since all sites are reserved for weekenders.
You’re losing money with those sites being empty during the week, and making a lot of sore campers from all the talk I’ve been hearing. We have grown up camping at Belle Starr and as I see it, it’s the best campground on the lake. We have seen many changes over the years, and these that were implemented this year are the worst ever from our standpoint. Hope it’s something you will look at in the future.
Thanks

We enjoy staying at Belle Star because of the quality of the camp sites, the concrete slabs and pull through drives, and when there was a power outage a while back when we were there we reported it and it was resolved in a couple hours. The sites are well maintained. We also like the fact that it is close to the town of Eufaula.

Our family camps here every 4th of July. Love the sandy beaches and campsites close to water. Restrooms are kept very clean. East end needs new one built but it’s kept clean for an older facility. We enjoy this camp ground.

We reserved a spot on the water. Upon arrival there were dead fish that someone had left after filleting them, on the shore, rotting. The park was filled with trash and debris. We cancelled our reservation and went to Eufaula State Park which was AMAZING!!
