What Guests Are Saying
Chicken Creek is highly regarded by frequent campers for its beautiful scenery, cleanliness, and accommodating staff. Many appreciate the peaceful atmosphere, lovely sunset views, and easy access to water activities. However, there are concerns about maintenance, including overgrown grass, restroom conditions, and the need for better management of noise and site reservations. Overall, campers express a desire to return despite some areas needing improvement.

Camp ground was cleaned up pretty good after the recent flooding rain. Much better and sooner than other parks we have been to. Park employees and rangers were very friendly and helpful.

I enjoy Chicken Creek because it doesn’t seem so packed and crammed in like some of the other parks. We are enjoying our stays here very much.

One of the gate workers was very hateful, mad and rude with my husband and I!! She approached us in a defensive manner and in front of our friends. Very unprofessional!! She doesn’t need to work with people. She is not a people person!!! Never in my life have we been spoken to in that manner!! Other campers have had dealings with her but never us!!
Guess it was our turn!!! Not a happy camper!!

The place is pretty out-of-the-way from anything. The night we arrived, we were told they were expecting bad hail and thunderstorms. The weather app said just rain, but looking at the skies, we left after being discouraged with the place.
Although the hosts were nice and helpful, the campsites were not very desirable. Several of them were flooded. We have a 32-foot travel trailer and reserved site number 6. There is no way anything larger than 30 feet can be backed into that spot without destroying any brush or railroad ties around it. We tried three more spots. Two had the water hookup more than 50 feet away. One had no working water. We went to fill up the tank at the dump station, but the water clearly states "Non-potable". Very few sites were level. I understand it's a National/State Park, but there was no way I was about to put my rig on that bad of an area, especially with the ground being as soft as it was.
When we left, we got lucky. We did get hit by a torrential downpour but were able to pull off under a covered gas station along with several others. Looking back at the sky we had left, I really hope those few people that stayed were okay. It did not look good, and apparently, the weather was much worse than what was expected. I do believe they had a tornado in the area, and with all the widow makers at the site, I wouldn't be surprised if the remaining campers suffered some pretty costly damage.
