What Guests Are Saying
Big River is a charming campground with peaceful river access, well-maintained sites, and a clean environment, making it a favorite for some visitors. However, there are concerns about limited facilities, such as only one toilet for multiple sites, and issues with noise and maintenance. Overall, while some guests experienced inconveniences, many appreciated the natural beauty and tranquil atmosphere of the location.

Camp was ok for a forest service campground. Every campsite had a reserved sticker but we basically had the place to ourselves. Pit toilet was clean. Got too smoky and we left early.

We actually didn't end up camping at Big River because someone was occupying our site. Note - the host is at another campground 8 miles away, so if you have issues, its a trek. I did observe that Big River is very busy with day use access to the river.

Not a great spot for families at all. River is accessible, but over a hill and not a beachy area really. Very loud sound from the road and rowdy campers for sure. We actually left a day early because of the rowdiness. It is close to Bend and you can get right on the river so that was nice.

We found other people squatting with their tent by the river at our campsite.
Some other person left their car at our campsite parking.
Trash everywhere.
Random dog running around with no one watching it and barking at everyone.
People smoking in the 1 single holder bathroom.

It is quiet and peaceful. The river is calm and right next to the campground with very easy access.

No host on-site. Bring your own firewood. Lots of litter in the campsites. Campground right next to a moderately busy road. Pit toilet relatively clean. Best for a quick overnight on your way somewhere else.

From Bend travel south on Hwy. 97 for about 17 miles, then make a right onto Vandervert Road. Make a left onto S. Century Dr. then another right to stay on S Century Dr. Follow S Century Dr. / NF-4205, then make a right onto Bonanza Lane, and another right to stay on Bonanza which will lead you into the campground.
