Camp hosts we’re very sweet. Nice clean campsites but the Bathrooms were super smelly! Best camp hosts, we remembered them from last year 💓

We've stayed a couple of times now at Gull Point Campground on Wickiup Reservoir:
First time for 4 nights in August of 2020. The reservoir was pretty much full, the fish were flopping around, and I wasn't landing any of them. During the day, it was warm and a bit balmy. Each evening, the full moon was rising in the east and after a few minutes hovered over Hamner Butte to the south to pose for shots while there was still some light available. A few hours after sundown, the temperature descended into the high 50's if I remember right. Our fire kept us plenty warm until we turned in.
Our latest visit was September 15 2021. It was very different from our first visit, with the only exception being that I still could not catch any fish. One of the biggest differences was that the water had been released from the reservoir: I was now fishing in the Deschutes River, which was winding its way in loops and bends at the drying bottom of manmade lake. Another difference this time was the temperature. 75 or so during the day, but at 4200 feet, you know it's going to get cold at night in mid-September. And on this visit, campfires were not allowed. Needless to say, we were colder that night than we have ever been in that tent! In the morning my wife looked at the term in the pickup and it was reading 31F. That means we were sleeping in a three season tent when it was high 20's at coldest point mid-morning.
Please pardon long windedness, and accept a well deserved positive summary: This is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen on this planet, and I think even more so with the reservoir drained. Even if the fish are disrespectful of my intentions.
Come on up to Wickiup Reservoir. Bring your expectation for views all around of unparalleled beauty. Bring your camera. Bring extra blankets if you're late in the season. Bring your fishing gear, and please let me know of your productivity rate in that regard.
Cheers all.

Bathrooms were not flush toilets as was mentioned in the website. Also, the fact the reservoir is emptied must be highlighted when describing the location.
As a camp site, it was relatively clean. The camp hosts do a great job keeping it up. Despite the fire-ban, some guests still lighted up fire logs. The hosts did make them put their fire off, but it was unsettling to see people defy the rules despite the historic draught we are in.
