During the winter season (November - April) several of our sites are now only available on a first-come, first-served basis due to frequent flooding.  All first-come, first-served sites must be paid for at West Winds Campground at the credit card machine which is located on the other side of Galloway Rd.  If you have any questions please contact the Hebo Ranger Station at (503) 392-5100, we are open M-F 8 AM-4 PM.

About Sandbeach Campground - Sand Lake Recreation Area

Sandbeach Campground is ideal for off-road vehicle lovers, with year-round access to nearly 1,100 acres of coastal sand dunes. The 81-site campground is part of the Sand Lake Recreation Area and home to a sand dune playground. Parking aprons are paved. Campground amenities include drinking water, flush toilets, campfire rings and an off-road vehicle loading ramp.  All sites during the summer season (May-October) are reservations ONLY!!During the winter season (November-April) sites 2, 8, 12-14, 24-29, 38-46, 66, 70, 80-81 flood frequently and will not be available to reserve during this time. They will only be open to first-come, first serve and if you wish to stay at one of these spots during this timeframe please use the credit card machine located in the West Winds Campground parking lot. All other sites not listed above will still be reservable during the winter.Please contact the Hebo Ranger Station if you have any questions (503) 392-5100 we are open Monday - Friday 8 AM - 4 PM except on federal holidays.

Sandbeach campground has just about everything you need/want. Quick walk to the tributary beach, shade, sun, picnic table, fire pit, dunes, ocean front, wildlife.... had some deer walk through the camp... that was cool. Power and internet would be nice, but I wonder if that would pull from the overall experience. My husband and I love it there.

A large group of friends and us reserved sites 73-78 - it was awesome! We had the whole circle to ourselves and it makes for a great group area. 73 also had an extra parking pad for your vehicle. AT&T has next to no service in the sites. Every now and then we would get a few texts through.

Bathrooms were so clean and heated. It has always been my favorite campground along the Oregon Coast. Even if you don’t ride quads and sand toys. It’s a great camping spot for the whole family.
