Thia campground is beautiful and very well maintained. The walking path circles the entire lake and is paved to allow strollers and wheelchairs to traverse the entire route. The fish bite quickly enough to keep my four year old interested, resident deer make their way through camp nightly, and for a campground this size it is relatively quiet. Aside from the nature, the hosts are worth mention. Heather and Jody are phenomenal camp hosts. They are very accommodating and often check in on guests to see how they are doing. Heather brought around camp goodies for the kids and even had a first aid kit handy to fix up my son's scrapes. I have nothing negative to say about this campground. We had a wonderful experience.
My husband mentioned that a playground/structure of some sort for the kids would be nice, but we suspect that funding and lawsuits against the Forest Service are probably holding that back. Nevertheless we enjoyed ourselves and will definitely be returning again soon!

One of our favorite places to camp. We arrived to find enough stacked firewood that lasted our full 3 days. Quiet, private spots. Beautiful lake with concrete walkway, benches, docks. We stayed in site 27 which is right on the lake.

Excellent camp and Jodi was a wonderful camp host!! He cut wood for us and even built the fire. So welcoming. We stayed in site 4 which was against the hill and very private. The little lake is beautiful and has a paved trail all the way around for a short walk. We would definitely stay again if we were coming or going in the area.

Great campsites and nice walk around the lake. Were able to hear elk bugle and see wild turkeys. Special thanks to camp hosts (Jody and Heather) who greeted us as we drove in and were always friendly and helpful. Look forward to camping here again.

Wonderful and helpful camp hosts, (A big shoutout to Heather and Jody!), the sound of elk bugling in the distance, osprey and otter to watch at the lake, hiking on the nearby deserted roads and around the lake, fishing, and a quiet place to enjoy friends and the beauty of the area! What's not to like!?!

Beautiful and quiet campground. Jody and Heather are the friendliest campground hosts we’ve ever experienced in all of our decades of camping. They go out of their way to help everyone. They keep the whole campground spotless.

From Heppner, Oregon: Travel south on Highway 207 for approximately 36 miles. Turn east on Forest Service Road 2039 and follow signs to Bull Prairie Recreational Area.
Bull Prairie Campground is accessible via Highway 207, which is the primary route from Heppner, Oregon.

- For additional information and current road conditions please contact the Recreation Department at the Heppner Ranger District. (541-676-2155)
- Check in with Camp Host upon arrival.
- OHV use is prohibited in the main campground. All off road vehicles must remain on trailer's in main campground. They may be off loaded and loaded in day use area by the boat dock.Dogs must be on a leash at all times.No discharging of firearms or possession of fireworks allowed.Some campsites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.Be bear aware; keep all food out of sight in approved containers or locked inside your vehicle and remove all food from the area after eating.Don't Move Firewood: Please protect Pacific Northwest forests by preventing the spread of invasive species. Firewood can carry insects and diseases that can threaten the health of our western forests. You can make a difference by obtaining and burning your firewood near your camping destination. Visit Dontmovefirewood.org for further information.Camping or otherwise occupying a single location (including leaving camping equipment and/or related supplies) for a period longer than 14 consecutive calendar days within a 30-day period is prohibited. ‘Location’ means the occupied area, the occupied campsite, and the National Forest System lands in the immediate vicinity thereof.Additional vehicles after the first 2 will require an additional $5 fee (per additional vehicle) paid on site.Motorized boating (gas or electric) is prohibited on the lake.Trash service is not available at this site. If you pack it in, please pack it out.
