Spent 5 nights here, Monday-friday on the first week of October. Tues-thurs we had the whole a loop to ourselves, which was fantastic. The sites are spacious and offer privacy, although some are a little small. Must do the butte hike, very steep but worth it. We loved it here

I would have rated this a 5 ( due to the beauty of the area) but for the very limited space available to launch a kayak or other boat when several others are there as well. The parking near the public boat launch is also very limited with only 5 or 6 spaces there. There is another spot along the shore that would be ideal but it has evidently been sold to private interests and they forbid anyone to use the same area as the boat rentals. The store that also handles the camp site permits also would not let anyone use that spot even for those who are paying to camp in the park.
The other item is that this is a National Forest campground and is the most expensive that I have ever come across being almost double of the most expensive I have ever used. The rates run, for an RV space without any hookups, as much as most state parks run with full hookups. Thinking back I should have rated this as no more than a three.

Excellent campsites and beautiful location. The hike around the lake is worth the time. It would be nice if the resort had a decent restaurant, but that is not why we go camping anyway. Wasn't crowded mid-September, but rain was forecast for the day we arrived so that may have kept a few campers away. Loved the boardwalk paths which help to protect the tree roots.
