What Guests Are Saying
Driftwood offers a vibrant camping experience, particularly for offroad enthusiasts, with great access to sand dunes and a friendly camp host who is helpful and engaging. The camping area is generally clean and quiet at night, making it enjoyable for families. However, some campers have noted issues like loud noise, limited shower hours, and maintenance concerns, particularly with the bathrooms.

First night we got our cable cut and all our gas cans stolen. Apparently it was 18 nights straight of theft. We had to have members of our group stay up all night to avoid further theft. Two of the three camp host got into a argument one of the days and one of the camp hosts, while drunk and on pain killers, burned out of their spot with their truck and almost hit one of the kids in our group. I’ve been going to driftwood for the last 20 yrs but this may be the last time I do. The facilities were clean and nice but when you can’t relax because of the theft there and then the camp host behaving the way he did is just not acceptable.

Was glad the water was fixed. Only down side was the coin machine for showers was not working. I planned on using the showers as I do not have one in my camper. This was a huge inconvenience for me. Your camp host had a couple tokens that he gave me so I could use it. But that worked for 1 shower as the first token was almost used up by the time the hot water kicked in.
It would be nice if they were open 24 hours. As most people stay out riding till 10. Then there is no time to shower as they are closed.

Upon arrival, camp host relayed numerous thefts had happened over the prior 20ish days and warned us to be cautious. I asked how many times the authorities had been called or been sent to investigate, camp host looked slightly caught off guard and responded with "none". Alarming as this was, our group of at least 10 spots choose to stick it out. Then the next day this same camp host had an altercation with another group of campers, which from our understanding said host did a burnout in camp and almost struck a child. From our understanding this camp host was removed from service and the camp (this gentleman was probably the reason of supposed thefts). A campground my friends and family have enjoyed for a lot of years will be removed from our rotation of dune trips.

Disappointed that the restrooms were closed and no running water available. Also heard about a lot of theft issues recently.

The host was great. There was no water and only porta potties. The security at this campground is nonexistent!! There was theft every night of gas cans and generators. They also stole my suitcase solar system from my 5th wheel. Where are the park rangers? They want to come complain how people park but don't even try to deter the theft!!! I will not be coming back to this campground.

When we arrived at camp, we quickly discovered there was no water, shower, or bathrooms available. Additionally, camp host (Mike) neglected to inform our party that campground had been experiencing frequent theft activity and we lost $1500.00 in equipment our first night in camp (generator and fuel). He then proceeded to exhibit aggressive behavior to our party and guests throughout our stay. Disappointed to say the least.
