Much too noisy. A group of loud people took up a half dozen spots and spent their time hollering, revving engines, hauling 4 wheels through, plugging up the road. Their dog "Milo" ran loose, and so did three or four others. When walking my dog, I had to carry a walking stick to protect him from dogs running at us with no leash. One had a leash with no one on the other end of it. I left early because it was too nerve racking.

The campsite was a good size and relatively private. It did not have much shade nor many trees from which you could hang a line. The restrooms were very clean. The site had a nice little trail that took you around the perimeter of the campsites and linked up with other trails in the area (including a nice spot to kayak or SUP and one that leads to the ocean. I would stay here again!

There is a lot of magic at this campground, especially in a few choice spots, and therefore Lagoon is one of my favorite places to camp . I am a tent camper and over the years have learned to blend in harmoniously with the natural surroundings. I find that this leads to a richer camping experience, especially at campgrounds like Lagoon where the payoff is in terms of frequent visits from various wildlife, birds, etc. There are no hookups at this site, and this part of the dunes is big on the dune buggy scene. Therefore by far the biggest challenge of staying here is putting up with the weekender RV that is hell bent on running their generators at all hours. I have the best noise cancellation headphones in the world, but alas they are no match for the RV generators of our time. I think the federal government agencies that manage these places should designate separate areas of the campground for RV's that will be running generators. It just makes for better neighbors. Actually, there is another campground a little closer to the beach, just a few thousand feet down the road, that is a haven for RV's, dune buggies and roaring generators. Sometimes I think that certain RV campers get the two campgrounds confused and end up at Lagood. I would recommend that a sign (with big letters) be posted directing RV generators to the campground where they would feel most welcome amongst their peers. The upside to the noise level at this campground is that it is far enough tucked in away from Hwy 101, so there is often little to no road noise at night, a problem that plagues many campgrounds along HWY 101. Finally, I have to extend my appreciation to Linda the campground host. She takes pride in her work and watches over the campground. Largely because of her, it feels like being part of a family at Lagoon. This is probably why I have stayed at this campground off and on for about sixty nights total. Top notch Oregon Coast camping!

The campground is very clean, adequately sized camp spots. The numbered camp sites are completely different than what is shown on the reservation system, not even close. What ever site you think you are trying to reserve will be wrong.
The biggest fault (and why I would never stay there again) is that they allow generators and any other noise to start at 6AM. Why on god's green earth somebody needs to run their generator at 6AM while "camping". We had a "camper" right across from us (see comment about site numbering being off) start and continually run their generator every morning starting at 6AM. While the camp host sympathized with us, there was nothing they could do about it.

We love the Lagoon and Wax Myrtle camping grounds. We have been staying at them for over 12 years each summer. The camp sites are clean and most of the camp hosts are very friendly. Florence is only a few miles away with plenty places to eat and sites to see and the casino is just outside Florence. The staging area for our 4 wheelers is about 1/2 mile from Lagoon and the beach and dunes are great to ride on.
