What Guests Are Saying
Tyee Campground offers great access to the Siltcoos River, making it ideal for kayaking and enjoying the nearby dunes. Many visitors appreciate the campground's quiet atmosphere and well-maintained sites, though some have encountered issues with noise from the highway and unkempt conditions. While a camp host would enhance the experience, the natural beauty and recreational opportunities keep some campers returning despite the challenges.

There are two Tyee campgrounds. One is on the Umpqua 11 miles from Sutherlin. The other Tyee campground is on the coast. Rec.gov gave us directions to the Tyee campground on the Umpqua which is where we needed to be. Unfortunately, the reservation was at the coast which was 50 miles away. Needless to say, it made for a long night trying to get other last minute accommodations. Perhaps changing the name to Umpqua Tyee and Coast Tyee would eliminate this problem

Campsites are right next of each other, no privacy, and several sites share a common area which is great for large, loud group parties late into the night. Quiet time means nothing. Conveiniently close to town for beer runs. Suffice to say, we left early.

I absolutely would not recommend staying here. It doesn't offer any privacy and you're right next to a busy road. Worst of all, I booked online and my spot was somehow given to a person who booked over the phone. I wasn't even given a full refund.

There was no camp host so no reservation information was on any site. We saw many people just pull up to empty sites and set up camp with no reservation. Luckily only 1 group had to pack up and leave when the people who reserved it showed up. Also, I think it's important to note that most of the sites share a large "meadow" so if you're looking for a little privacy you would need site 12, or 15. Great place to launch you canoe or kayak. We enjoyed our stay.

Lots of shade, lots of privacy from the other campers. Definitely, want to book again for the same site and the noise wasn't an issue.

Many things. For one, this camp site does not meet the chargable/reservable campground description. The description as it is stated on the recreation webpage is a camping site that requires a fee, that hosts SINGULAR camp spots. This camp ground is not purely singular camp spots. Sites 8-11 all share 1 large piece of grass with no barriers (brush, foliage)
This is NOT a singular camp site, this is a shared campsite. A shared campsite that you are being charged 22$ a night for, when the description doesn't line up with what you're paying for. This camp site is a joke. On top of the shared camping, you are a stones throw away from the highway. That's not a joke. You could hit a car by throwing a rock in that direction, you can see it and hear it.
You're right on a more stagnant than flowing river, and there's gnarly bugs everywhere. This campsite SUCKS. there is a reason there is so much availability here, it sucks. And they wouldn't provide me a refund, I paid $52 to share a camp site with 3 other groups, a stones throw off the highway, by a buggy river, we were so upset we left early. This campground should be FREE. you have absolutely no business charging people at all.

Nice enough sites next to the creek. The backin spaces accommodated our 18foot trailer and were fairly level. Pull up space along the road left the rig out in the roadway. A slide would have been out in traffic. It was fine for a rainy weekday stay not in high season. The downside is the traffic noise from highway 101 adjacent to the campground. It quieted at night. Ok in trailer but would be very annoying in a tent.

This campground is located in close proximity to multiple lakes and wetlands. Due to this, there can be an abundance of mosquitoes between the months of April and August. Please be prepared for this. |
