The camp ground was clean and well cared for.
The only complaint was the camp host was like a army Sargent in the way he approached people. A little people skill would go a long way.

Situated along a beautiful stretch of the North Umpqua, Susan Creek is a gem. There is a swimming hole large enough to fit several olympic sized pools, a nice trail to Susan Creek Falls and the Day Use Area, and nice level camp spots. The only down side is a portion of the campground shows signs of a recent fire, so live trees generally started around site 19 or 20. This will improve quickly.

This is one of our favorite campgrounds - it is beautiful, and there really isn't a bad campsite in the whole campground. We appreciate that there are two camp hosts instead of just one, which gives us a measure of security. The bathrooms with showers are especially nice. There are no power or water hookups for trailers, but we are able to go three nights on battery power. The sites are very clean and nicely raked in between campers. We love the sound of the Umpqua River and the beauty of river. It is great for supervised wading, swimming, and water play for children. Within close proximity (8 miles west, approximately) is Idleyld, where there is a grocery store with deli, a gas station, and liquor store. Also, about the same distance east is Steamboat Inn, that has a fine restaurant. Day trips to numerous waterfalls, lakes, and trails abound. We love to explore other campgrounds as well, and also agree that Susan Creek is the finest.

Wonderful campground: the river running strong as I fell asleep. I somehow left my tent underneath my friend's bed at my last stop, and had to sleep in the open air, but the mosquitoes went to bed when I did. After a hot day on I-5 in CA Central Valley, I was so happy for a hot shower before bed. Other campers respectful of noise rules. I always would like greater spaces between campsites, but enough undergrowth between spots to offer privacy. Great little path to get some steps in before hitting the road home.
