What Guests Are Saying
Lepage Park offers a pleasant camping experience with well-maintained facilities, friendly staff, and scenic views along the river. While some guests noted issues like gravel sites instead of grass and occasional water outages, the overall cleanliness and safety of the park were appreciated. It's a convenient stop for travelers, although nearby noise from traffic and trains can be a minor drawback.

We were first in line for the FF (first come first serve) site, which should not have been rented prior to 8:00 am that morning. However the host decided to rent the site the day before to someone else. We stayed in the overflow area, and paid for the additional days, as we had one night previously booked in a space. The host was doing his daily duty of checking the permits in the parking lot and harassed us about not moving into that space for the one night. We have a motorhome and it didn't make sense to move into a space for one last night, so we stayed in the overflow area. Beware, host has a chip on his shoulder.

The campsite and campgrounds were great. Dates were May 28 to May 31. The problem was the Recreation website. I made reservations over a month ahead of time. When reserving the tent site the web site listed Sunday as first-come-first-serve and would not let me reserve the site for Sunday even though I had reserved it for the preceding two days. When I arrived at the campground I asked the attendant if I could extend the reservation for Sunday and the web site would not allow them to extend my reservation. I tried again Friday and Saturday night and the attendant was still unable to extend my reservation and told me to just stay there. While I was out fishing the attendant on duty Sunday afternoon came and order my wife out of the site as someone else had reserved the sight for Sunday. You really need to fix your website to allow users to book a tent site for as many available days as possible. You caused a lot of stress and anger by the inability of your web site to adjust to the extended weekend. Once someone has a site reserved for a length of time with the additional day set to first-come-first-serve you should not alter that later on as the dates get closer to the actual day. You really screwed up on this one. As a web designer myself I know how to account for these types of special occurrences. Please consider updating you website in the future.

Clean RV park. Mostly gravel just like the desert it is set in. Play area was beautiful lush green grass with play structures for the little ones. It is set right on the shore of the John Day River and an easy walk from all the campsites. Walk barefoot in the cool river along the beach. Nice.

Everything was excellent except for the wind, it kept us off the water two out of three days.
