What Guests Are Saying
Pioneer Ford Campground is a beautiful, peaceful site with great river access, clean facilities, and respectful guests. Campers appreciate the large, private sites, gorgeous hiking trails, and the serene atmosphere, especially mid-week. While there are occasional issues with water availability and privacy between sites, the friendly camp host and natural surroundings make it a favorite destination for relaxation and fishing.

We love coming to Pioneer Ford Campground because it always provides a quiet, relaxing getaway for my wife and I. We can always count on it being clean and well-maintained, and the campground host is friendly and willing to answer questions, if needed. Honestly, when we come to Pioneer Ford we are not looking for a lot of things to do other than enjoy our camping experience by the most beautiful river known to humanity! We are never disappointed, and you won't be either if you give it a try.

So many things to do! Nice sized sites with room in-between. There was an issue with the campground water, so you might need to bring your own. Sites on the river side are overpriced and most don’t have any view of the river, but it was nice to hear the sound of the water at night.

Pioneer Ford is a nice campground despite not having potable water while we were there. Additionally, the campground host was off duty for three out of the four days that we were there. He neglected to address the party that had an open fire despite there being clear signs indicating that open campfires were not allowed. This was especially alarming since there was a red flag warning. Additionally, one of our friends showed up unexpectedly and as soon as he arrived, the campground host appeared and made us pay him cash in advance for the extra car for the duration of our stay. He never put the money in the pay envelope or deposited it into the pay cylinder. It felt decidedly like a shakedown.

Camp sites are fairly private with most right along the river. There are hiking trails around the site and the site is secluded in the deschutes forest but also has access to other populated local sites close by.

Great campground and site. My only issue is that there is no water available. I believe this is the second time(at least) that I have experienced this in the past 2-3 years. It can be a bit difficult to go 4-5 days or more with no fresh potable water source. I noticed that even though the campgrounds are all booked they were actually less than 1/2 capacity. I’ve not seen this and attribute it to the water restrictions.
